IBM’s Bluefire

I’v just finished reading an article about a new supercomputer that America’s National Centre for Atmospheric Research has had produced by IBM. The entire system contains 4064 IBM processors running at 4.76 GHz and has nearly 12 TB of RAM. The Bluefire is special in the world of super computers for the fact that it is water-cooled by a number of reservoirs totaling 5700 litres, whereas most, if not all in the past have been air-cooled. This puts it’s power at around 76 TeraFLOPS, and had it been listed in the 2007 top 500 super computers list, it would come in at 17th place.
But what made me feel as though the article warranted a mention was the fact that the sole comment on the post was “BUT DOES IT RUN CRYSIS?”
…well i found it funny
